This is a wall-hanging botanical printed on pure wool crepe. I use mostly 100% wool fabric as these are the ones that will absorb natural dyes from foliage.
Leaves were locally forage to produce the prints. It does take time to create natural prints as first, the fabric needs to be scoured first, mordanted and then processed. The latter is then washed to remove any excess dye that is produced during the printing process. This process can take up to 3 days due to the preparation of the final product stages. All these steps are done locally in London where I am currently based.
We use the best products as much as we can. This fabric is new and is sourced from the best fabrics possible with wool from Scotland and Italy. At times after the printing process new products/ fibres react to mordants and therefore they can look used. It is all part of the natural printing process.
This product can be used as another type of product like sewing into cushion covers, table placemats, or framed few ideas. It is finished with a light cotton all-natural print. I have mounted it onto a magnetic wall hanging frame so it can be taken away at any time.
Care of the product
As it is a wall hanging botanical print as much as possible do handwash the products so that the print lasts longer. I do admit that I do put my botanical prints in the washing machine to wash but the print will last longer if handwashed. The type of fibre will also play a part in how fast the print will stay on it. Wool fibres will be lasting. Something to be aware of and think about when purchasing. Here are more instructions on how to care for and wash naturally printed products.
