This is a botanical printed sock which is printed on a pair of at least 65% recycled cotton. Leaves were locally forage to produce the prints. It does take time to create natural prints as first, the sock needs to be scoured first, mordanted and then processed. The latter is then washed to remove any excess dye that is produced during the printing process. This process can take up to 3 days due to the preparation of the final product stages. All these steps are done locally in London where I am currently based.
We use the best products as much as we can. This socks is new is sourced from a shop near where I am currently based. At times after the printing process new products/ fibres react to mordant use and therefore it doesn’t look new like what most find from shops anymore. It is part of the natural printing process.
Care of the product
As it is a botanical printed sock as much as possible do handwash the products so that the print lasts longer. I do admit that I do put my botanical printed socks in the washing machine to wash. It is possible but the prints will fade quicker. I do, however, have the joy of reprinting and dyeing them again when that happens. Something to be aware of and think about when purchasing. Here is more instructions on how to care for and wash naturally printed products.
